Choosing an Industry

You have chosen a college major and/or a job title, but now you need to choose the industry in which you wish to work.

The choice of industry will determine:

· Where you work.

· What you do.

· How much you make.

· The hours and days you work.

· The clothes you wear, the car you drive, the house you live in.

· The people who will be your friends, and many more factors.

First you need to review the long list of industries you can choose from.

Use any of the following sites:

· Bureau of Labor Statistics  http://www.bls.gov/bls/industry.htm

You will need to consider  where you would like to work from a list such as this:

· Finance

· Health

· Government

· Real Estate

· Energy

· Education

· Law

· Consumer Products

· Media & Marketing

· Technology & Science

· Manufacturing

· Construction

· Transportation
